My weekly personal note:
(Skip down to the weekly journal jots if you prefer.)
Good afternoon, Friend,
I give glory to God for His goodness today! My hubby started a new job this week…it’s a different shift time than what we have been accustomed to, so we both will have to adjust together on our new routine schedule.
Changes are something we all face in life. They’re not so fun at times, but we can learn and grow through them. Today, I’m also sharing something that’s perfect for spring cleaning season — for ourselves…
6 Ways to Weed Out Weaknesses From Your Life
(Save the image above and find a creative way to use it.)
Everyone has weaknesses. We’re born with them, but we can also grow through them.
Sadly, if you’re trying to pass off your life as one who has no weaknesses, you’ll have an extremely tough time. It takes time to progress your attributes from weak ones to stronger characteristics, but it is 100% possible.
Start with a few solid ways to weed weakness out of your life…
1. Make it a Challenge
When you zoom in to consider your weaknesses, you can make a list, and write them all down. Then, attack your list as if it were a to-do list. These are absolute attributes that can be improved or changed, so why not get started?!
Tip: Challenge yourself to work on creating one new habit each month that will counteract one of your bad habits.

2. Learn from Others
You are not alone here. You’re certainly not the only person who has had/will ever have your particular weakness. You have lots of people to look up to and learn from, so use this to your advantage.
Find someone who has overcome similar weaknesses or acquired similar good habits. Ask them questions. Learn from them. Then, apply it to your own situation.
3. Listen to the Opinions of Others
Have you ever received criticism from someone and been completely shocked? Sometimes, we don’t realize our own weaknesses until it is brought to our attention.
If you’re starting on a self-improvement project, try asking your friends and family what they think you can improve about yourself. Note: Be prepared to put on some tough walrus hide as you genuinely listen to their opinions.
In saying that, do consider that some people are just critical all the time. If someone criticized you in the past, consider what they said. If there is something you can do about it, and they have a valid point, then do something about it. Otherwise, put that criticism where you put your trash -- if it’s simply stemming from their critical nature.
4. Consider the “Why”
Weaknesses are not simply surface level, so they shouldn’t be treated that way. If you have a hard time speaking in public, there is likely a deeper-seated issue causing that surface-level weakness. If you don’t like to do your work on time, there’s probably something triggering that.
When you analyze your weaknesses, don’t just think about how you want to improve them. Think about why they are there in the first place. Ask yourself questions such as, “Why do I really feel this way?” or “Have I always felt this way?” Get to the core of your weakness, and then work on crushing it.
5. Recognize that Strengths Always Trump Weaknesses
No matter what your strengths are or what your weaknesses are, the good always trumps the bad. Don’t be too hard on yourself throughout this process. Give yourself some grace. Changes don’t always happen overnight.
You have so many positive attributes as well, so don’t let yourself forget about those. When you’re asking your loved ones about your weaknesses, also ask about your strengths.
When you’re making that list of things you want to improve about yourself, make a list about those positive traits as well. Keep up your morale and push through!
6. Ask God for Help and Memorize Bible Verses
This last point should probably have been given at the first, but since I’m sharing some Bible verse, I wanted to list this point last.
As I said at the beginning, we all have weaknesses. God knows that we are not perfect. Enlist His help above all else. Pray about it. Memorize related Bible verses that will help you in overcoming your weakness and faults.
a. Admitting our weakness is the first step to being an overcomer. “But he giveth more grace. “Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”James 4:6 (KJV)
b. Achieve improvement for the right reason – for the glory of God!“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV)
c. Give thanks for all things – even the challenges in your life. Ask God to get glory from what you learn, and that it may be used to help others as well.“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Colossians 3:17 (KJV)
d. Put your whole heart in the matter! “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
e. Get plenty of wisdom from God, who is THE MAIN SOURCE of wisdom. We want to make the right changes, the right choices in our life, and do it in the right way. “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 (KJV)
Keep walking in faith,
Rhonda White
