My weekly personal note:
(Skip down to the weekly journal jots if you prefer.)
Good afternoon,
It’s been a long week since last week. A loved one of mine is hurting deeply. I share that hurt and haven’t slept well. And I know that some of you are hurting, too.
I’ve heard the saying a few times, be kind to everyone because everyone is having a hard time. (A good reason to share smiles everywhere we go as well!)
We all carry burdens and struggles. It’s something we can’t seem to escape in life because we live in a sinful, imperfect world.
Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
God is near when we feel broken, and He is our strength to get through those hard times.
I just read in a little devotional today of a story that could apply here. It was about a woman that asked her preacher for advice because she was about to have a nervous breakdown.
He told her on Monday to bake some cookies for some deaf folks.
Then, the next day to bake a cake for some blind folks.
Then, the following day to go to the hospital and hand out roses to all those who had no visitors. She was to also talk to them and pray with them.
A few weeks later when the preacher asked her about her nervous problem. She responded, “I got so busy, I had to call it off!”
I think it’s important to stay busy and put our focus on others when we’re struggling with discouragement, hurt and anxiety, etc. That’s where we’ll find the joy of giving and helping others — and to take the focus off ourselves.
My friend, keep walking in faith,

Visual Inspiration:
In the summertime, don’t we find ourselves super thirsty? What if we longed for more of God’s Word like that? We can when we create a daily habit of drinking in God’s Word!
Make it a DAILY DELIGHT to spend some DEVOTED time in God’s Word!
“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;” Psalm 63:1 KJV

7 Journal Jots: (Use these ideas for your own journal or ministry)
“Salvation’s assurance is bound in the bedrock of Christ’s finished work on the cross.” - Dr. Tim Green
“Our love for the truth of the Bible can be measured by our hatred for that which is unscriptural.” Dr. Tom Malone (deceased)
“There are NO errors in God’s book, no inaccuracies, no false statements, no prophecy that has not already come true, or that will not come true, no promise that cannot be literally fulfilled in the life of any believer.” - Dr. Tom Malone (deceased)
A farmer said, “I keep shoveling into God’s bin, and God keeps shoveling back into mine, and He has the bigger shovel.”
There is NOTHING in which our identification with Christ is more realized than in prayer.
You can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving.
*QUESTION: God judges what we give by what we keep. So, how is your giving?
