My weekly personal note:
(Skip down to the weekly journal jots if you prefer.)
Good afternoon, Friend,
Yes indeed…. Summer is on its way. Getting a little warmer here. Not sure if I’m ready for a real hot spell, but sort of ready for a break from freezing my toes off. Hahaha!
Side note: I did finish packing away all my winter wear today to put it in storage. So, stepping out in faith here. Hahaha!
I’m just pondering last week’s question today, “What advice would you give your younger self?”
That’s probably loaded with a boat full more of space than I could answer here in a short spell, but I know a few things I would say to my younger self…
Make reading your Bible a top priority. (This is something that took me quite a few years to really grasp, but what a difference it makes.)
Spend more quality time with your children; time flies by too quickly before they’re gone. Make God’s Word and Biblical principles your main goal in education. It’s our guide to everything in life!! (I feel like I did a good job trying to have Bible devotionals with my sons, but looking back, I would have poured myself into it 10X more! There’s so much out there these days that will destroy our young people.)
Your shyness is more like a hidden pride…. You’re overly worried about what people think of you. Don’t be so wrapped up in your own world…get outside of your comfort zone and see how you can encourage others with your words. (True story… was so very shy as a young person.)
Don’t worry so much about pleasing people. Your main goal is to please the Heavenly Father. (I tried to please too many people, and it’s impossible to please everyone. You will drive yourself insane!)
Just learn to wait. It’s so worth it! Don’t get ahead of God. God’s timing is always perfect and right on time. (There’s a couple of regrettable times I got ahead of God.)
Speak up when people are taking a wrong advantage of you. Don’t let people walk all over you, but speak the truth in love. **Pride causes contention, so be careful. (For me, I had an extremely hard time speaking up for myself. I let myself be a door mat too many times.)
It’s okay to be angry when someone has done you wrong, but wait until you’re able to speak peaceably before confronting that person. Then, learn to forgive and go on, no matter the outcome. (I had trouble allowing myself to be angry. I thought those feelings were wrong…so I would keep my feelings bottled up.)
The Bible verse I would then give is, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” I Corinthians 10:31 KJV
If we’re truly aiming to give God the glory and please our Heavenly Father, I think most everything else will fall in syn as it should.
Above all…
Trust and Obey!
Just like the chorus says…
Trust and obey
For there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus
But to trust and obey
Keep walking in faith,
Rhonda White

7 Journal Jots: (Use these ideas for your own journal or ministry)
5X5 Rule: If it’s not going to matter in FIVE years, don’t spend more than FIVE minutes being upset about it.
Don’t dwell on the “What Ifs.” Here and now >> look for the good, be positive, love, laugh, have fun." (Time is precious…be present in the moment…not dwelling on the future worries.)
Bitterness is a self-inflicted wound.
It’s never going to rain roses. If you want roses you have to go and plant them.
The road called PRIDE always ends at the road called DESTRUCTION. (*See Proverbs 16:18 kjv)
“Live your life in obedience to GOD, and then you can enjoy the life of joy produced by GOD. (Refeshing Daily in God’s Word Devotionals)
