My weekly personal note:
(Skip down to the weekly journal jots if you prefer.)
Good afternoon,
Happy Wednesday! Is it really October? Last weekend we sure did have some warm days. My husband came home one day and asked if we had the air on, and I replied in that ‘duh’ tone, “It’s October!” As if that explained the lack of cool, flowing air in our house. Ha!
I mean, do we EVER run the air in October? No.
Then, the next day we chatted with a friend and found out it had been 100 degrees! (My eyes were wide as saucers with this shocking truth.) I knew I was feeling a little warm, but guess my mind refused to believe it was really hot. Haha!
Then, I felt lousy because I usually cool the house off before my husband gets home from work so that he can cool down and relax. Somehow, I let the fact that he must have been truly hot fly right over my head.
Do you ever get so caught up in your own routine or world that you fail to pay attention to present reality or circumstances…or the needs of others?
It’s great to have routines and be consistent with our schedules, etc., but sometimes it might be good to re-evaluate a situation and make adjustments.
It also reminded me to remember to be more “flexible”.
I also got called out on this same issue, in my teen years, when I was in a Christian school. The back of our report cards dealt with the issues of our character. I remember getting a low evaluation on being “flexible.”
So there you have it… at my age (yes, I’m half a century old! LOL) and I am STILL learning and STILL struggling with flaws in character! And especially being flexible.
This might not be much of a spiritual lesson today, but perhaps this silly story might encourage you today that NONE of us have it all together or always choose to say things in the nicest ways or make perfect choices every single time. Oh… I could fill a diary FULL of blunders, believe me!!!
Keep walking in faith,
Rhonda White
