Good morning, I named the file on my computer for these doodle flowers above as “wonky flowers” Ha! ha! They are indeed a little wonky. And sometimes I absolutely love being wonky.
Wonkiness (is that a real word?) sort of encourages SIMPLICITY. When I work FASTER and focus less on PERFECTION, my work may end up with little wonky enhancement. LOL
Try your hand at creating a wonky doodle today. Or, just let your HAIR do its own thing! Some days, I have wonky hair…and it sparkles. ha! ha! (That sparkle is the silvers growing in, by the way. Tee hee!)
Wonkiness makes us SMILE. It brings our minds back to simplicity….perhaps like our childhood days when we enjoyed fun, no-fuss quirky stuff.
I would indeed say that a little wonkiness can spark some simplicity in your life. What do you say?
Sparking More Simplicity
“In order to live an abundant life, ladies need glimpses of peace, balance, and simplicity. The abundant life can only happen if they have GOD’S help in creating an organized home and schedule.” - Jody Powers, Amelia’s Closet
I wrote that quote in my journal back in July 2018.
I Corinthians 14:40 kjv, says, “Let all things be done decently and in order.”
(Notice, it doesn’t say “and in chaos?)
I chose “SIMPLIFY” at least a couple of times for my “focus word” of the year. I grew weary of adding an overabundance of things to my to-do list. Sometimes, we can end up overcomplicating a project by getting too detailed or adding in too many extras.
Yes, a project may call for extra extravagances at times, such as planning a ladies banquet, but many times we try to tackle on more than necessary. This weighs us down.
One thing that I’ve learned, is that on bigger projects — start early working on it. This way you can break down your big project into smaller chunks and have a sufficient stretch to “do a little bit at a time”.
You’ll ENJOY the project so much more when you aren’t pressured into completing everything at the last minute.
10 Minute Simple Weekend Project:
I’m NOT a huge decorator. I surely admire those who are skilled at decorating, but I tend to enjoy “their” work on display rather than mine own. Ha!
I absolutely hate trying to put all that decor away and find a place to store it. So, I started minimizing my decorating projects to creating a centerpiece for our dining room table.
This project took only 10 minutes. (And I’m not fluffing. Hee! Hee!)
I spray painted an old thrift store basket, and let it dry. (I recently grabbed white spray paint on clearance. If you see a clearance sale on spray paint, and you don’t know what color to pick — choose WHITE or a light color. You will always find a project for it!)
Bought a few Dollar Tree flowers and cut them apart. (Also, bought one of those floral foam blocks at D.T.)
Stuck in some tissue paper that I already had on hand (They have this at D.T. as well.), stuck the floral foam block inside, and literally stuck those flowers in as fast as possible. )
Done in 10 minutes…. it really brightens up our table for springtime.
